A busy night in the N-H-L sees five Canadian teams hitting the ice.  Up first, Montreal hosts Dallas and Ottawa continues a tour of Florida with a stop in Tampa Bay. Later, the Winnipeg Jets visit Nashville. And the Battle of Alberta is renewed as the Edmonton Oilers travel to Calgary to take on the Flames.



The Toronto Raptors will look to extend their winning streak to nine straight when they visit the Brooklyn Nets tonight. Toronto opens play with a three-and-a-half game lead over the Celtics for first place in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn is languishing in 13th place in the East. The Nets have won just two of their last 10 games.



Aaron Sanchez takes the hill this afternoon as the Toronto Blue Jays continue their exhibition schedule with a road game against the Atlanta Braves in Florida. Sanchez is 1-and-1 with a 3.86 earned-run average this pre-season. Toronto lost 6-4 to the Boston Red Sox yesterday to fall to 8-and-10 in Grapefruit League play.



Canadian tennis star Milos Raonic takes on unseeded Joao Sousa of Portugal this afternoon in third-round play at the B-N-P Paribas Open. Raonic, of Thornhill, Ontario, is seeded 32nd at the tournament in Indian Wells, California. Raonic made the final at the Masters 1,000 event in 2016.



Toronto F-C has the slight edge heading into the second leg of its CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal against Tigres U-A-N-L in Mexico tonight. Toronto won the first leg 2-1 at home last week but the Tigres’s away-goal could come into play. M-L-S teams haven’t traditionally done well on Mexican soil, earning just three wins and eight draws in 49 games.



Hall of famer and New York Yankees special adviser Reggie Jackson is on the disabled list.

The 71 year old will have knee surgery today after tripping and falling during a walk.
