Heads up for commuters using the Chaffey’s Swing Bridge, you’ll have to take an alternate route for a while starting tomorrow. Parks Canada will be replacing the Chaffey’s Swing Bridge with a new bridge that will meet highway load standards. Car and truck access will be cut off from Tuesday, March 31 until Thursday, April 16.  Parks Canada says that there are alternative crossings on Highway 42 and Jones Falls Road.  They also say that while the work is being done, limited parking will be available in Parks Canada’s parking area at the north-east end of the lockstation. Pedestrians take note a crossing will be available via the lock gates.
