Andrei Vasilevskiy made 36 saves to help the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Washington Capitals 4-2 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference final and cut their series deficit to 2-1. Victor Hedman scored and assisted on power-play goals by Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov.

Jaylen Brown scored 23 points and the Boston Celtics to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 107-94 to take a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference finals. LeBron James had a 42-point night for Cleveland. Terry Rozier added 18 points, while Al Horford finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Boston improved to 8-0 this post-season at T-D Garden. The Celtics have never blown a 2-0 series lead in the playoffs.

Phoenix has won the top pick in next month’s N-B-A Draft.  It’s the first time the Suns will have the chance to make the first overall selection. The Suns had the right combination of ping-pong balls pop up for them at the Draft Lottery, a reward of sorts after a season where Phoenix had the Association’s worst record at 21-61.

Jaime Garcia was charged with six runs and six hits in 3 2/3 innings as the Toronto Blue Jays lost to the Mets 12-2 in New York in interleague play. Toronto fell back to .500 for the first time this season since they were 2-2. The Blue Jays have dropped three in a row and eight of 11.

All-star Joey Votto won’t be playing for Canada again any time soon. The Cincinnati Reds first baseman, who was born and raised in Toronto, says in a recent Yahoo! Sports podcast that “I don’t care almost at all about Canadian baseball.”  Votto represented Canada at the 2009 and 2013 World Baseball Classics and won the Lou Marsh Award as Canada’s athlete of the year in 2010 and 2017.

Jose Altuve hit a go-ahead, three-run double in the eighth inning, and the Houston Astros rallied from a late two-run deficit for a 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.  Brian McCann had two hits and drove in another run for the defending World Series champions, who reclaimed sole possession of first place in the A-L West after the Angels pulled virtually even Monday.
