It took an extra 94 seconds but the Senators finally snap an eight-game losing streak.  Colin white scoring in overtime in a 2-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks.   Bobby Ryan also scoring   with Anders Nilsson stopping 32 shots. It was a franchise-record ninth straight loss for Anaheim.

Just two other games…Flames dump the Avlanche 5-3 and the Predators edge the Blackhawks 4-3 in overtime.

Six of Canada’s seven N-H-L teams are hitting the ice tonight in a busy night around the league.  First up, the Toronto Maple Leafs are on the road in New Jersey (7 p-m Eastern). The Montreal Canadiens travel to St. Louis and the Winnipeg Jets are in Minnesota. Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers host Florida, the Vancouver Canucks entertain Arizona, and the Ottawa Senators continue their California road trip against the L-A Kings.

The 67’s pick up another top-10 scorer, acquiring overage Lucas Chioda from the Barrie Colts for draft picks.

The Ottawa Junior Sens whip the Pembroke Lumber Kings 6-1 in CCHL action and Navan gets by Nepean, also 6-1.

Kanata hosting Smiths Falls tonight and Rockland travels to Cornwall.

Ottawa’s Rachel Homan faces Winnipeg’s Darcy Robertson in one of two A-group semifinals this morning at the Canadian Open event of the Grand Slam of Curling. In the other semi, Nina Roth of the United States plays Robyn Silvernagle, who’s from the host city of North Battleford, Saskatchewan.

Canada’s Milos Raonic will face home-nation favourite Nick Kyrgios in the first round of the Australian Open. The two have split their career series 3-3. Fellow Canadian Denis Shapovalov will take on Spain’s Pablo Andujar. On the women’s side, Eugenie Bouchard of Westmount, Quebec, is scheduled to play wild card Shuai Peng of China.
