Two goals for John Tavares,   Leafs dump the Devils 4-2.   Canadians FALL 4-1 to the Blues.  Capitals double up the Bruins 4-2.

Connor McDavid  was in on  all three regulation goals for the Oilers,    plus adds another in the shootout as Edmonton beat Florida 4-3.

The first-place 67’s are on the road this weekend beginning tonight in Sarnia.

The Smiths Falls Bears dump the Kanata Lasers  5-2 in CCHL action.  The two teams go at it again tonight in the Falls.   Cornwall all over Rockland  5-1.

Canadian Adam Svensson has a one-stroke lead heading into the second round of the Sony Open in Hawaii. The 25-year-old Svensson shot a career-best 9-under 61 yesterday, capping the opening round with a 10-foot birdie putt. He had seven birdies and one eagle. American Andrew Putnam is second at 8 under.

The Toronto Raptors host the Brooklyn Nets tonight in one of nine games on the N-B-A schedule. Toronto has won three straight to improve to 31-and-12 on the season. Kawhi Leonard has been key to the Raptors success. He is averaging 27-point-three points per game. The Nets are 21-and-22, good for sixth place in the Eastern Conference.

Mikael Kingsbury is holding court in Calgary, where the moguls star will compete in a World Cup beginning with today’s qualification round. Kingsbury has won seven World Cups in the Canadian city in his career. The host Canadian team also features 2014 Olympic women’s champion Justine Dufour-Lapointe and her sister and silver medallist Chloe Dufour-Lapointe of Montreal.

Bianca Andreescu is through to the main draw of the Australian Open. The Mississauga, Ontario teen advanced after her opponent retired with an injury in second set of her final qualifying match in Melbourne. Andreescu was leading Tereza Smitkova of the Czech Republic 6-0, 4-1 when Smitkova withdrew, sending Andreescu to her second career Grand Slam main draw.
