The Raptors geared up for their playoff push yesterday by pulling off a blockbuster deal at the N-B-A trade deadline. They acquired Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies for Jonas Valanciunas, C-J Miles, Delon Wright and a 2024 second-round draft pick. In a separate deal, the Raptors sent veteran forward Greg Monroe and a 2021 second-round pick to Brooklyn for cash considerations.

Pascal Siakam led a short-handed Raptors squad to a 119-101 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. He scored a career-high 33 points and Fred VanVleet added a career-best 30 as Toronto rallied from a first-half deficit. The win pulled the Raps to within 1-and-a-half games of Eastern Conference leading Milwaukee.

Phil Mickelson is in the hunt at the AT-and-T Pebble Beach Pro-Am as second round play gets underway. He’s one shot off the lead after not missing a single fairway yesterday. Mickelson has won the event four times. Brian Gay and Scott Langley are currently in the lead at 7 under. Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B-C, and Mackenzie Hughes from Dundas, Ontario were 3 under.

Hall of Famer outfielder Frank Robinson has died at 83. Robinson is the only player to earn the MVP award in both leagues and became the first black manager when he took over the Cleveland Indians in 1975.
