Habs dump the Kings  3-1.  Bruins edge the Hurricanes  4-3 in overtime.   Meantime, Boston’s   Brad Marchand is once again stirring the pot,     this time weighing  in on contract negotiations for the Leafs Mitch Marner.   Marchand posting on Twitter that the young Toronto star  deserves at least  12 million a year.   Marner – not really paying attention to the post.

Elsewhere it  was  Tampa Bay  beating Winnipeg  5-2.  Penguins 3 Panthers 2 in overtime…and  Columbus  gets by Jersey  2-1 in a shootout.

Jake Smith makes  33 saves leading the Smiths Falls Bears to as  3-2 shootout win over the Brockville Braves.

Tier-2 playoffs…Carleton Place taking a two-nothing series lead with a  5-4 overtime win over  Westport…and the Ottawa Junior Canadians open the playoffs with a  6-2 dumping of Char-Lan.

Northern Ontario’s Brad Jacobs and  Brendan Bottcher’s wild-card team from Edmonton secure  berths in the championship round at the Tim Hortons Brier.  Jacobs downing   Manitoba   9-5 to stay undefeated at 6-and-0.  Bottcher is 5-and-1 following a  10-4  victory over Quebec.

James Harden scores  35 points lifting the Houston Rockets to  a  107-95 win over the Raptors.

Aaron Sanchez takes the hill for the Blue Jays this afternoon in spring training action in Dunedin, Florida. Sanchez walked a batter and struck out one in two innings in his first pre-season start last week. Sanchez likely won’t face Philadelphia’s new superstar Bryce Harper. Harper isn’t expected to make his debut with the Phillies until this weekend.
