Was that the future of the Sens on display at Canadian Tire Centre? Max Veronneau and Erik Branstrom step in and didn’t look out of place and Anders Nilsson was outstanding between the pipes leading the Sens to a 2-0 win over the visiting Blues.   Only Christian Wolanin was able to beat St. Louis goalie Jake Allen.  Chris Tierney scored into an empty net.

The Canadians are still on the outside looking in.  Anders Lee scoring with less than three minutes to play as the Islanders beat Montreal 2-1.

The Bruins are all of a sudden struggling.   Mark Scheifele scoring one and setting up two more   as the Jets hand the bruins their third straight loss with a 4-3 victory.

Canadian Bianca Andreescu hopes to continue her strong start to the tennis season when she faces Number 6 seed Elina Svitolina of Ukraine in the semifinals today at the B-N-P Paribas Open. The 18-year-old was once ranked 152 in the world, but her quartefinal win on Wednesday already guarantees her a spot in the top 40.

Lefty Ryan Borucki is expected to start this afternoon when the Blue Jays hit Spectrum Field in Coldwater, Florida. Toronto faces righty Nick Pavetta and the Philadelphia Phillies in Grapefruit League play, with the regular season just under two weeks away. The Jays open the season March 28th at Rogers Centre against the Detroit Tigers.
