A good game for Erik Karlsson.  He scores twice, including the winner in overtime, lifting the San Jose Sharks to a 5-4 win over the St. Louis Blues in Game 3 of the Western Conference final, giving the Sharks a two-one series lead. It was a controversial winning goal with the refs missing a hand pass by Timo Meier.  The Blues host Game 4 tomorrow night.

The Boston Bruins can advance to the Stanley Cup final with a victory tonight. They have a 3-0 lead over the Hurricanes heading into Game 4 of the Eastern Conference final in Carolina. Boston has not made it to the championship round since the 2012-13 season, when they lost to Chicago. The Bruins won their last Stanley Cup in 2011 when they beat Vancouver.

The Milwaukee Bucks take Game One of the NBA’s Eastern Conference final, 108-100 over the Toronto Raptors. Bucks centre Brook Lopez with 29 points and 11 rebounds says they weren’t playing badly even when they fell behind. The Bucks host Game  2 tomorrow.

The Golden State Warriors will look to take charge of the Western Conference finals before the series shifts to Portland. Golden State won the first game 116-94 on Tuesday night and hosts Game 2 tonight. The Trail Blazers will need to stop star Steph Curry in order to even up the series. Curry made nine 3-pointers and scored 36 points in Tuesday’s win.

A loss for the Blue Jays but a new record for Toronto starter Edwin Jackson.  Jackson becoming the first player in major league history to play for 14 teams when he made his Blue Jays debut against the Giants in San Francisco.  He pitched five innings without a decision in a 4-3 loss. Jays acquired Jackson in a trade with Oakland on Saturday.

The Jays start a four-game series against the White Sox in Chicago tonight. Marcus Stroman takes the hill for Toronto while the White Sox counter with Dylan Covey. Stroman is 1-and-6 on the season.

Canada’s Denis Shapovalov had another day to prepare for today’s second-round matchup against top-seeded Novak Djokovic at the Italian Open. The match was scheduled for yesterday but was rained out. Djokovic is trying to make it back-to-back Masters 1000 wins. He’s coming off a championship at the Madrid Open last weekend.

Corey Conners of Listowel, Ontario and Adam Hadwin of Abbotsford, B-C are the two Canadians in the field as the P-G-A Championship tees off today in Farmingdale, New Yok. Conners earned his spot in the second major of the year with his win at the Valero Texas Open last month. It’s his first time playing in the tournament.
