The LPGA’s AIG Women’s British Open got underway yesterday and Smiths Falls’ Brooke Henderson finished off the day 4 shots off the lead tied for 11th at three under.

Cody Fajardo ran in the winning touchdown with under a minute to play as the Saskatchewan Roughriders beat the visiting Hamilton Tiger-Cats 24-19. The Roughriders scored 11 points in the last 3:16 of the fourth quarter to come from behind for the win. Fajardo capped a five-play, 42-yard drive with a five-yard T-D run with 44 seconds remaining.

Every team in the C-F-L is finally in the win column. McLeod Bethel-Thompson completed his third touchdown pass with 10 seconds to play as the Argonauts beat the visiting Winnipeg Blue Bombers 28-27 for their first win of the season. Toronto was the only team still without a victory and entered the game 0-and-6.

Tonight the Ottawa Redblacks are in Montreal to take on the Alouettes – game time 7:00pm

Trent Thornton did his job. And so did the Blue Jays offence. Toronto reinstated Thornton from the 10-day injured list for elbow inflammation, and he allowed just one run over six innings in the Jays’ 11-2 win over the Orioles in Baltimore. Vladimir Guerrero Junior hit two of Toronto’s five home runs to help Thornton.

The Ottawa Champions lost last night to Trois-Rivieres 3-0 – tonight they start a series with the New Jersey Jackals

Canadians Vasek Pospisil, Brayden Schnur and Peter Polansky have earned wild-card entries into the upcoming Rogers Cup. Milos Raonic, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov already had spots in the main draw based on their A-T-P ranking.

The Grizzlies haven’t called Vancouver home since 2000. But that’s not stopping them from tapping their Canadian roots to celebrate the N-B-A franchise’s 25th season. Grizzlies president Jason Wexler says it was an easy decision to bring back the classic teal uniforms for the upcoming season to celebrate the team’s start in Vancouver along with its 25th season.
