Milos Raonic is heading to the third round at the Australian Open, keeping Canada’s hopes alive in singles at the season’s first Grand Slam. Raonic beat Chile’s Cristian Garin 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 to advance. He will face Number 6 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas next. Raonic was the only Canadian to survive the opening round.

Larry Walker became just the second Canadian ever to be elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame last night. He’ll be joining Canadian pitcher Fergie Jenkins in Cooperstown, New York. Walker and Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter form the class of 2020.

The Jets had a quick turn around out of Winnipeg last night to play the second game in as many days. The Jets face the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight on the road after a 4-1 loss against the Carolina Hurricanes last night at Bell M-T-S Place. It’s the last night of N-H-L action before breaking for the annual all-star game festivities.

The Raptors are looking for their fifth straight win tonight when they host the Philadelphia 76ers at Scotiabank Arena. Philadelphia has also won four straight and is just a game back of Toronto for third in the East. The 76ers are an impressive 20-and-2 at home but just 9-and-14 on the road.

A months-long recovery from arthroscopic knee surgery is finally behind Zion Williamson. The New Orleans Pelicans rookie and top overall draft choice is finally set to make his N-B-A regular-season debut tonight against San Antonio. Williamson says he knows expectations are high but says he doesn’t feel pressure.

Former Washington coach Jay Gruden is reportedly close to finalizing a deal to become Jacksonville’s offensive co-ordinator. The deal is expected to be announced today. The Redskins fired Gruden in early October following an 0-and-5 start. Gruden was 35-49-and-1 in five-plus seasons in Washington and reached the playoffs once.
